DEATH Mrs. H. M. Malloy THE death of Mrs. Gwenneth Muriel Malloy, of Church street, Mudgee, occurred at the untimely age of 19 at the district hospital early yesterday morning. The late Mrs. Malloy, who was the wife of Mr. Herbert M. Malloy, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Knight, of Church street, had been in ill health for a rather long time. Besides her sorrowing husband, she is survived by a young child. She was born in Mudgee and had spent the whole of her life here. Her sad death will be deeply mourned by a wide circle of friends. The funeral was held this morning, the interment being carried out by Messrs. J. C. Swords and Son in the Church of England portion of the general cemetery. Canon L. C. S. Walker conducted the services at the church and graveside (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 21 October 1937, page 2).

Mr. John Knight ON Thursday night last, in the District Hospital, John Knight (70), of Church Street, Mudgee, died after a long illness. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon to the Church of England portion of the Mudgee Cemetery, Rev. A. O. Powell officiating. He leaves a wife and grown-up family and to them we extend our deepest sympathy. At the funeral his former workmates. Oddfellows, and Foresters marched. It was a fine tribute to a good citizen and a faithful workman. The late Mr. Knight, for many years, worked on the staff of the 'Mudgee Guardian.' 'Jack' hadn't an enemy to the world. MRS. KNIGHT Mrs. Emily Agnes Knight, died in the Mudgee Hospital on Saturday last, aged 66 years. Deceased who was the widow of the late Mr. J. Knight, was a member of a very old district family, and spent the greater part of her life in Mudgee. She was held in high regard by a large number of devoted friends, to whom her passing came as a severe shock. She is survived by one son and nine daughters, all of whom are well-known and highly respected. To the sorrowing ones deep sympathy is extended. The funeral took place to the Church of England portion of the cemetery on Sunday, Rev. Canon Powell officiating. Messrs. Eastaugh and Carroll carried out the arrangements in each instance (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Monday 17 July 1950, page 1).

MARKS, Bessie Marlene (nee Knight). - June 25, 1988. at a nursing home, of Kiama and formerly of Mudgee, beloved wife of the late Albert Edward Marks, loved mother and mother-in-law of Alex, Joyce (deceased) and Jim Ewell, Olga and Michael Chetty, Donald (deceased) and Colleen, John and Betty, Marion and Robert Parsons, Elsie and Stan Phillis, Denise and Bruce White, loved nan of all her grandchildren. Obituary Notice Eileen Ellen Keech The death occurred in Pioneer House, Mudgee on December 5, 1989 of Mrs. Eileen Ellen Keech, 78. Mrs. Keech (better known as Micky) was born in Mudgee, the daughter of the late John and Emily Knight and spent most of her life in her home town. Her recent years in Pioneer House. Her husband, James Kenneth Keech of Wilbertree and one daughter, Ilma, predeceased her. She is survived by daughter Mollie (Mrs. Fowler) of Taree, 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The deceased was a sister of Mrs. Edna Neilson, Orange; Mrs. Joan Cook, Port Macquarie; Mrs. Phyllis Bassingthwaighte, Mudgee; Mrs. Valerie Smith, Mudgee; Mrs. Norma Haley, Gulgong; Carl, Lawson; Bessie (d.); Mollie (d.); Elsie (d.); and Gwen (d.). Obituary Phyllis Emily Bassingthwaighte Phyllis Emily Bassingthwaighte, born in 1910, was one of 11 children of the late Jack and Emily Knight of Mudgee. Her father was a long-time employee of the “Mudgee Guardian” during the early part of the century. She worked as a nurse in “Rexton” Private Hospital for several years and married Victor Bassingthwaighte in 1933. Her husband predeceased her in 1985, and she is survived by her three sons, Kevin, Bob and Neil, and a daughter Anne (Mrs. Crew). She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Lynda, Robyn, Annette, Gail, Yolande, Tiffany, Adrian and Janet and two great grandchildren, Tyson and Jacinta Brown of Adelaide. She is sadly missed also by her sisters, Mrs. Edna Neilson, Orange; Mrs. Joan Cook, Port Macquarie; Mrs. Val Smith, Mudgee; Mrs. Norma Haley, Gulgong and her ber Carl Knight, Lawson. Phyllis Bassingthwaighte was a lifelong member of the Church of England, having been active in the Mothers’ Union, the Church Choir and AWA. She was a founding member and Patron of the Mudgee Soldiers’ Ladies’ Bowling Club and an enthusiastic member of Ignite during the latter part of her life. She always loved music and singing, and took part in various musical productions over the years, including “HMS Pinafore” and “The Mikado”. Her passing is a great loss to her family and friends.
