Death of a maternal grandmother | Ellen Robertson 29 January 1928 (aged 16 years) Death of Mrs. Lennox A FINE OLD LADY. A very fine old lady, in the person of Mrs. Ellen Lennox, relict of the late Thomas Lennox, passed to her reward on Sunday evening, aged 75 years. She had been ailing for some considerable time, but it was not expected that the end was so near. Yesterday she was driven from her home in Mudgee to the residence of her daughter (Mrs. S. Smede) at Havilah, when she was seized with a sudden attack of coughing, which terminated fatally. Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. William Robertson, one of the district's pioneers, and was born at Reedy Creek, Ulan. In 1875 she married the late Mr. Thomas Lennox in Mudgee and the worthy pair settled near Wollar where they gained the esteem of all classes. Some fifteen years ago they moved to Mudgee, and here, as in their former home, they enjoyed the respect of a wide circle of friends. The death of her husband, which occurred a couple of years ago, was a severe blow, severing, as it did the ties which had bound them for about half a century. The following sons and daughters, to whom the deepest sympathy of all will be extended, are left to mourn:- James and Thomas (Mudgee), John (Wallerawang), William (Sydney), Mrs. A. Brennan (Binnaway), Mrs. J. Brennan (Waverley), Mrs. S. Smede (Havilah) and Mrs. W. Lawther (Mudgee). The funeral will leave her late residence, Church-street at 11 o'clock to-morrow (Tuesday) morning for the R.C. portion of the Mudgee cemetery. Mr. J. C. Sword is in charge of the arrangements.
