OLD MAN'S DEATH. The death occurred yesterday at Redbank of Mr. Richard Sandry, an old bachelor aged 69 years. The deceased passed away at the residence of his brother-in-law, Mr. Charles McGowan. OLD RESIDENT'S DEATH. Mr. W. Sandry, whose death was announced in our last issue, was not a bachelor, as stated. TRAFFIC FATALITY. Mudgee Man Killed When Bus and Cycle Collide HERBERT William McGowan, 30, a Mudgee native, was killed almost instantly inside the grounds of the S.A. Factory, Lithgow, on Friday morning, when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a bus. The wheel is stated to have passed over his skull which was fractured. The fatality occurred at 6.45. McGowan was riding to take up duty in the establishment, when the bus, which was carrying employees, travelling in the same direction, collided with his machine. The ambulance took the body to a doctor and the hospital morgue. The bus was driven by Melvel Lane, son of Mr. C. H. D. Lane, proprietor of the service. McGowan was a single man. He went to Lithgow eight months ago when he obtained employment at the factory, and was exceptionally popular among his workmates. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. S. McGowan, of Mudgee, two sisters, and three bers. They are Mrs. R. Dowell, 9 Boundary Street, Lithgow, with whom he lived; Mrs. R. Cameron, Mudgee; Mr. Jack McGowan, Vale Road; Mr. Charles McGowan, Ashbury; and Mr. Walter McGowan, Coonabarabran. The tragedy cast a gloom over the establishment. Mrs. A. S. Cameron AT the age of 34, the sad death occurred of Alice Stella Cameron, at the Waterfall Sanitorium on Sunday last. She was the wife of Mr. Robert Cameron, of Mudgee, and a daughter of Mrs. C. McGowan of Mudgee South. Before her marriage, the late Mrs. Cameron was a nurse at Lithgow Hospital. She is survived by a husband and five children, whose ages range from 5 to 11 years. The body was brought to Mudgee and the funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon to the Presbyterian portion of the Mudgee Cemetery, the Rev. A. G. Wood officiating. Deaths Mr. John Richard McGowan The death occurred at Mudgee District Hospital on Wednesday of Mr. John Richard McGowan, 64, late of Robertson Road. Deceased is survived by his wife Esma, daughters Heather, Edna, Joan and Sandra, and son John. His funeral is appointed to move from Eastaugh and Carroll’s private Chapel, Perry Street, at 2 p.m. today, for interment in the Mudgee Cemetery. Eastaugh and Caroll are in charge of arrangements. Death Mr. A. C. McGowan The death occurred in Sydney last Saturday of Mr. Albert Charles McGowan, the ber of Mr. Walter McGowan, of Horatio Street, Mudgee. The deceased was a well known schoolteacher in the western area of the State and was a prominent Lithgow citizen for many years. He was living in Croydon Park at the time of his death, and was an Executive Officer, and former President of the West Sydney Rifle Club. Death Notice Walter Bernard McGowan The death occurred in the Mudgee Hospital on July 11 of Mr. Walter Bernard McGowan, a highly respected resident of Horatio Street, Mudgee. Mr. McGowan would have been 74 years old on July 22. Although he had suffered bad health for some years, Mr. McGowan, until very recently had taken a keen interest in his vegetable garden. He was a great reader and this interest occupied much of his time during his illness. Mr. McGowan as a young man had been employed by the Dept. of Railways for some thirty odd years, and had worked and lived in various places including Coonabarabran, Katoomba, Sydney and Mudgee. He is survived by his wife Enid, two sons, Peter and Ralph of Sydney, one daughter (Mrs. Bob Dowel) of Mudgee, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
