GETTENS — MONKS. The Church of England, Marrickville, was the scene of a wedding on March 20, when John Thomas, third son of Mr. Thomas Gettens, Bylong, was married to Lavinia Emily, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Monks, of Gympie, Queensland. The bride, who was given away by Mr. Alexandria, wore a robe of pearl satin, trimmed with silk insertion, and satin bows of true lovers' knots, and silk girdle. She also wore a wreath and veil, and carried a shower bouquet. Miss Pearl Parkinson, of Granville (niece of the bridegroom) was bridesmaid, and wore a dress of pale blue taffeta voile trimmed with guipure insertion, and white hat trimmed with blue ribbon and white roses. The mother of the bride wore a costume of silver-grey taffeta silk trimmed with grey silk and fringe, with hat to match. The bridegroom's present to the bride, was a gold bangle, set with diamonds and rubies, and to the bridesmaid, a gold brooch set with sapphires. Mr. E. Gettens, bRother of the bridegroom, was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. E. Gettens, Hurstville, where the wedding breakfast was also held, at which the usual toasts were honored.
