The deceased and one of her little girls had gone to Yamble, and the bit had been taken out of the pony's mouth while it wasbeing given a feed. Preparing to resume the journey, Mrs. Finucame went to replace the bit in the pony's mouth, and the girl was getting into the sulky, when a dog caused the pony to lake fright and plunge forward, knocking Mrs Finucane down, trampling upon her, and dragging the sulky over her body. The girl, remaining on the step of the sulky, stuck to the reins, but, as she pulled, the winkers slipped back on the pony's neck. The affrighted animal bolted along the road for aboutthree miles, when the sulky was overturned, the pony fell down, and the girl was thrown upon the ground, but miraculously escaped injury. When Mrs. Finucane was picked up it was seen that her injuries were serious. She was taken to her home byone of her sons, and Dr. Nickoll was called into attendance, and he at once pronounced her case as hopeless. Her death occurred shortly afterwards.
