DEATH OF GULGONG RESIDENT Mr. Thomas Walsh, a very old and respected resident of Gulgong, who has a farm at Springfield, was discovered by his wife in an unconscious condition near his home on Thursday. Apparently he had been thrown from his horse. He was conveyed home, and died to-day (Monday) at 12 o'clock. Deceased had reached the age of 74, and was one of the oldest residents of the district, being a member of the well known Walsh family of Lue and Havilah. He is survived by four sons - Messrs. Sidney, Michael, John, and Vincent - and three daughters - Misses Ethel and Daisy, and Sister Joseph. SARAH JANE BATON.

There passed away at her home, Sarah Jane, wife of J. Baton, Lue, on Saturday last at the age of 63 years. The remains were interred in the Church of England cemetery, Lue, the Rev. W. Thompson, of Rylstone, officiating at the grave-side. Deceased leaves a sorrowing husband and grown up family. Mr. H. Barton had charge of the funeral arrangements. DEATH AT GULGONG

Mrs. Emily Walsh, relict of the late Thomas Walsh, died at Gulgong on Tuesday, aged 61 years. Deceased, who was a member of the well-known Batten family, of Lue, was held in the highest esteem, and her death will be universally deplored. She is survived by the following sons and daughters. Sydney (Randwick), Michael, Jack, and Vincent (Gulgong), Mrs. Cooper (Annandale), Miss E. Walsh (Gulgong), Nurse Walsh (Cessnock) and Sister J. Walsh (Oberon Convent). To the bereaved ones we extend sincere sympathy. The funeral took place to the R.C. portion of the Gulgong cemetery on Wednesday, the Rev. Deaths MR MICHAEL WALSH The Gulgong district lost a very highly esteemed and popular resident in the passing of Mr. Michael Walsh, which sad event occurred at his home, Robinson street, Gulgong, last weekend. Deceased, who was 45 years of age, was a native of Rylstone, and had lived in the Gulgong district for the greater part of his life. He attended school at Mudgee and Gulgong and later was employed by his father, who conducted a store in Gulgong. Many years later, "Mick," as deceased was so well known to all and sundry, spent a few years in Singleton and Sydney, and returned to Gulgong, where he was so well liked and esteemed. He ran a car for hire and a bakery business in Gulgong, and then conducted an hotel at Wellington for a year or two. During this latter time he was a patient in the Gulgong Hospital for three weeks. His health began to fail him and he returned to Gulgong and again conducted a car-hire service. Continued ill-health forced him into hospital, and to be under the attention of doctors and early this year he was in St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney, for nearly six weeks. A few weeks later he came back to Gulgong, only to return to Sydney again recently. He was brought home on Saturday morning last in a very low condition and passed away at his home. Besides a widow, the following bers and sisters are left to mourn: Messrs John Walsh (Gulgong), Sid. Walsh (Sydney), Vincent Walsh (Sydney), Mrs. A. Cooper (Sydney), Matron E. Walsh (Rose Bay), Sister Mary Joseph (of the Convent, Portland). The funeral took place to the Catholic portion of the Gulgong cemetery, the Rev. Father Kelly officiating. Our sympathy is extended. COLLAPSED MR. J. WALSH'S DEATH Coroner's Inquest MR. John Walsh, a well-known business man of Gulgong, collapsed and died on the operating table after under-going an operation at the Gulgong District Hospital on Tuesday morning. Deceased, who was 45 years of age, was proprietor of a billiard saloon, and was admitted to the hospital on Monday night. His sudden death shocked the whole community, for "Johnny" was very highly respected. He was well liked by all sections, and he was a conscientious, straight-going man. Some years ago he was in a store-keeping business in Gulgong with his ber, the late Mr. Michael Walsh. Deceased was unmarried. The funeral took place this afternoon.
