DEATH OF OLD RESIDENTS.

MRS. VIVIAN COX. Last night at 8.30 there passed away at Braeburn Hospital, Mudgee, Mrs. Vivian Cox, of "Bellanbar," Gulgamree (near Cudgegong). The deceased lady was 64 years of age, and had lived in this district all her life. The immediate cause of death was an internal complaint. The deceased was born in Rylstone, being the daughter of the late Mr. John Mills, who was a resident of Mudgee at one time, being proprietor of the Imperial Hotel some 40 years ago. She was well-known and highly respected in this district. At one time she was in the Education Department, and for 25 years taught the school at Millsville. From this post she retired about three years ago. Her husband, who predeceaseed her by 10 years, was the founder of the firm of Crossing and Cox, auctioneers, of Mudgee, he joining with Mr. Henry Crossing in establishing the firm nearly half a century ago. The deceased lady is survived by four sons and 6 daughters, viz., Vivian Henry (John Bridge and Co., Ltd.), Sydney, John (Lawson's Creek), William King ("Bellanbar," Gulgamree), Albert Victor (Mudgee district representative of John Bridge and Co.), Mrs. Alfred Reid (Melbourne), Mrs. Henry Rayner (Mount Jack, Cudgegong), Mrs. Arthur Rayner (Gulgamree), Miss Mary E. Cox (Mudgee), Miss Una Cox (Manly), and Miss V. Cox (Mudgee). The late Mrs. Cox had been ailing for some time, so that her death was not altogether unexpected. However, the family are deeply grieved at their sad loss, and we join with many friends in extending to them our sympathy. The remains of the deceased were interred in the C. E. portion of the Mudgee cemetery this afternoon, the Rev. E. P. Lowe officiating at the graveside.
