There were (writes a correspondent) many people who had not heard the sad news that Mrs. Margaret Bevitt, of Rawden, had died until after she had been buried. However, the funeral was very largely attended, proving how much Mrs. Bevitt was esteemed by the people of the district. The passing away of Mrs. Bevitt cast a gloom over the district. Mrs. Bevitt died early on Saturday morning at her son's (Mr. Joseph Bevitt's) residence at Rawden, where she had lived for over 27 years. She had been failing for five long months, and was nursed by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Joseph Bevitt (nee Miss Ellen Dykes). The deceased lady was 70 years of age, and was the widow of the late Mr. Joseph Thomas Bevitt, of Penrith. Her husband predeceased her by about 28 years. She leaves a grown-up family of two sons and five daughters, viz.: Messrs. Joseph and Herbert Bevitt, Rawden; Mrs. Miskle, Pinnacle Swamp, Rylstone; Mrs. Mills and Mrs. Freeburn, Penrith ; Mrs. W. Bayliss, Rawden; Mrs. G. Honeysett, Rylstone; one ber, John Bartlett, North Sydney ; and one sister, Mrs. G. Fleetwood, North Sydney; besides a number of grandchildren and great-grand-children. At the time of her death all her family was at her bedside. The remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the Rylstone General Cemetery. The Rev. W. V. Thomson officiated at the graveside. Mr. I. Ferguson had charge of the funeral arrangements (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 27 November 1919, page 9).

ELIZABETH JANE DYKES.

The death occurred on January 5 of an old and respected resident, Elizabeth Jane Dykes, wife of Mr. Charles Dykes. at her home, Lewis-street, Mudgee. The deceased was 70 years of age, and the cause of death was senile decay. Deceased, who was ofa most kindly disposition, lived with her husband at Cullenbone for 5O years and was always ready to assist any of her neighbors or friends. About twelve months ago she and her husband came to Mudgee, where they have lived since. Besides asorrowing husband she is survived by one son, Paul, Cullenbone, and the following daughters: Mrs; J. Malone, Marshfleld, near Mudgee; Mrs. J. F. Bevitt, Rylstone; Mrs. F. Kirkland, Brymair, Glen Alice; Mrs C. J. Munro, Cronulla. After a serviceat the Catholic Church on Tuesday the remains were interred in the Mudgee General Cemetery, the Rev. Father E. J. Flanagan officiating. Mr H. The death occurred at Rylstone on Tuesday of Mr Charles Dykes. 80, after a few months' illness. Mr Dykes, who was on a visit to his sister at the time of his death, was one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of the Wilbetreedistrict, where he lived a great part of his life. He was also a resident of Cullenbone for some time, and was born in Mulgoa. He was very well-known as a cattle and horse breeder. The late Mr Dykes is survived by four daughters. Mrs J. Malone.of Ilford; Mrs E. Bevitt. of Rylstone; Mrs J. E. Munro. of Cronulla, and Mrs M. Kirkland, of Glen Alice; and two sons. Mr Paul Dykes, of Cullenbone. and Mr Jack Dykes. Mr James Dykes, the Deputy-Mayor of Mudgee is a nephew. The funeral tookplace in the Catholic portion of the Mudgee Cemetery, Monsignor Flanagan officiating. Mr H. On Sept. 12th, at Canowindra, the death occurred of Mrs. Ellen Jane Bevitt (nee Dykes) at the age of 63 years. Deceased was the relict of the late Mr. Joseph Bevitt.
