OBITUARY MRS. E. L. SCHIEMER Mrs. Emily Lilian Schiemer, who passed away at her home on Thursday, October 2, was one of the best known and most respected residents of the Coolah district. A member of the pioneer family she was a keen churchgoer and ardent worker for the Church of England, being an active member of the Ladies’ Guild until recent ill health prevented her assisting. The late Mrs. Schiemer was born Emily McBeth at Botheroo near Neilrex in 1874. She was married at St. Andrew’s Church of England, Coolah in 1892 and lived at Collier Creek until 1927 when she and her husband moved into town and took up residence in Gilmore Street. Deepest sympathy to their sad loss is extended to the bereaved husband, daughter Ada Evelyn, sons William Alfred, Alfred Joseph, Phillip Walter John, Harold and Eric, sisters Mrs. Ada Giffin (Homebush) and Mrs. Evelyn Muller (Ashfield) and brother Walter McBeth, Oswald (both of Coolah), and Harold, Merriwa. Two daughters Lilian and Elizabeth predeceased her.

The late Mrs. Schiemer was to the forefront in patriotic work during both World Wars, and was a keen worker for the C.W.A. to which she belonged for many years. Rev. A. P. Reeder, a former Rector of the Coolah Parish, travelled across from Kelso near Bathurst to officiate at the funeral service in St. Andrew’s Church of England and later carried out the last rites at the graveside. Mr. A. F. Regan was in charge of arrangements.
