Note: Obituary

Obituary Death of Mrs. Martin, Sen. After a long and painful illness, Mrs. Martin sen., relict of the late Donald Martin, of Pinnacle Swamp, Rylstone, passed peacefully away at 6 o’clock p.m., yesterday, the primary cause of death being dropsy. For a considerable time past the old lady has, for the purpose of being near her medical adviser, resided with her daughter, Mrs. Begg, in Cudgegong-street, and it was there that death took place. For some weeks all hopes of the recovery had been abandoned, and to have so long survived under such suffering only goes to show what a wonderful constitution the deceased had. Mrs. Martin, who was 71 years of age, survived her husband by some 15 years. The old lady, by her kindly, motherly ways, especially to those in trouble, had endeared herself to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her, and her demise will be widely regretted. A family of six, three sons and three daughters, survive their mother. These are:- Mr. P. J. Martin (Dubbo), Mr. M. Martin (present address not known), and Mr. J. Martin (Rylstone), and Mrs. A. Dowd (Carwell), Mrs. Bassett (Cowra), and Mrs. Begg (Rylstone). Another son, Mr. Alex Martin, died in Rylstone 7 months ago. The funeral is to take place at 3 p.m. this afternoon, when the remains will be buried in the Wesleyan portion of the local cemetery. To the bereaved family we tender our sympathy. Rylstone Express, Friday 18 August 1899. Obituary Mary Martin
