There passed away at 7 o'clock on Saturday morning, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Newby, a familiar and well-known figure in Wellington, in the person of Mr. Walter Moss, who had attained the great age of 87 years. Although he had not been in the best of health for some time, he was only confined to his bed for one day before his death which was due to senility, and he passed away very quietly and peacefully after a life that had been full of energy. The late Mr. Moss was well-known in this town, and he did his daily walk to and fro from his home, and in the warm summer months he was a constant visitor to the bowling green, and though he was not an active player, he enjoyed watching the members at play. He came to Wellington from Gulgong, where he had resided for a number of years, and had been living with his daughter for a very long while. His wife predeceased him many years ago. A grown up family survive him. The remains were encased in a polished maple casket, and were taken to Gulgong yesterday, and in the afternoon were laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the Gulgong cemetery, the services being read by the Rev. Mr. Caldwell. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. C. J. Shakespeare (Wellington Times, Monday 31 October 1932, page 2). |
