UNUSUAL SUICIDE SYDNEY. - A shunter had committed suicide by setting two railway trucks in motion, then lying on the line in front of them, the City Coroner (Mr. E. J. Forrest, S.M.) found yesterday. Mr. Forrest was inquiring into the death of Kelso Vale Shearman (52), of Annandale Street, Annandale, at Rozelle goods yard on December 5. Detective-Constable N. S. Teudt said Shearman's legs were stretched out and his arms folded in a natural position. His neck rested on the rails. The grade was such that a man could start the trucks, run ahead of them, and then lie down on the line before the trucks reached him. Advocate, Thursday 7 January 1954, p. 5.
