Mrs Charles Ashe, who was highly esteemed in the Rylstone district, passed peacefully away at Portland on Thursday last, in her 78th year. The deceased was the widow of a prominent district grazier, and was the daughter of the late Mr Samuel Smith of Mulgunnia Station, Trunkey. A family of 9 survive, including Messrs R. C. Ashe (Bogie), Norman (Grenfell), Arthur (Wallerawang), Cyril (Clandulla), and Robert (Kandos).(Mudgee Guardian and North Western Representative Monday 19 December1927, p. 2) Note: Obituary The death occurred at Portland on Tuesday last of Mrs. S. Deceased was married in St. John's Church, Glebe, in 1872, theirs being the first marriage celebrated in that church. The couple lived together in perfect harmony for 54 years, and were blessed with a family of five girls and four boys, all of whom survive. The venerable lady was one of the most highly esteemed residents of the district, and her demise will be deeply regretted. Death of a father | Egerton Sidney Ashe 1953 (aged 49 years) DEATH MR. E. S. ASHE Mr. E. S. ('Bob') Ashe, who was well and favourably known in the Rylstone-Kandos districts, where he resided for many years, passed peacefully away at his residence at Penrith on Monday last. Although of a quiet and unassuming nature, the late Mr. Ashe had the faculty for making staunch friends wherever he went, and never allowed an opportunity to pass to do a good turn to others. For this, alone, he was highly respected and ad mired by a large circle of friends. Like his father, the late Mr. Charles William Ashe, who owned rich grazing properties in the Bathurst and Wellington districts in the early days, deceased spent many years on the land and had a sound knowledge of pastoral life generally. The funeral on Tuesday to the historic Church of England, cemetery at Emu Plains was largely attended. Rev. Geoffrey Morris officiated. Deceased is survived by his widow, sons William and Rex (Penrith) and Eric (Lakemba), daughters, Mrs. L. Hook ("Warrangee," Rylstone), Mrs. J. Grabham (Kandos), Mrs. Matthews (Queensland), and Miss Meg Ashe (Penrith), bers Messrs. Cyril and Arthur Ashe (Lithgow), and sisters Mrs. McLean (Homebush), Mrs. Wilson (Sydney) and Mrs. Readford (Wyong). To the bereaved, deepest sympathy is extended. Obituary MR. J. E. GRABHAM The death occurred suddenly at his residence in Donoghue Street, Kandos, on December 18, 1965, of John Eric Grabham, at the age of 66 years. The late Mr. Grabham was born at Dark Corner, and lived in Kandos for 43 years, during which time he was employed by Kandos Cement Company and worked at the Kandos Colliery. The late Mr. Grabham will be remembered for his interest in all sport, and especially horse racing, having taken an active part as owner and trainer in the Western Districts during the past 30 years. Mr. Grabham's veterinary knowledge was helpful to many and gladly appreciated by local animal lovers. He was held in high esteem by the many people with whom he was associated. He is survived by his wife, Junita (nee Ashe), one son, Richard, of Tullamore and Warialda, two daughters, Norma of Melbourne and Ruth of Wollongong, also 5 grandchildren. Mr. Hitchens of the Methodist Convention officiated at the funeral service which moved to the family plot at the Dark Corner Cemetery. Mr. N. Brown was in charge of funeral arrangements.
