Death | 11 August 1918 (aged 25 years) MISS EILEEN PROBERT. Quite a gloom was cast over the town last night when it became known that Eileen Lilian Probert, eldest daughter of Mrs. George Tapper, of Mudgee, and niece of Mr C. Grady, of the Sydney Hotel Mudgee, had passed away after an illness extending over three months. The deceased was only 25 years of age, and was a very bright and cheerful girl, and had the respect and esteem of all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. Previous to her unfortunate illness the deceased was a young lady exceptionally good physical appearance, and was always the general favourite, and her sad death will be universally regretted by her numerous friends. The deceased had been suffering greatly for the past three months and despite careful medical treatment and ?????? she passed away last evening at 9.45 p.m. The remains will leave the Sydney Hotel tomorrow (Tuesday) morning at 10.30 a.m. and will then be conveyed to the Roman Catholic portion of the General Cemetery. The children of St Mary's will march at the funeral. Mr H Barton had charge of the funeral arrangements (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Monday 12 August 1918, page 2). |
