Death of a father | George Tindall 1 November 1930 (aged 36 years) OLD RESIDENTS PASS WELL KNOWN DISTRICT PIONEER LATE MR. GEORGE TINDALL Mr. George Tindall, who died in the hospital on Saturday at the age of 79, was a very well-known resident of the district, and was highly respected. He was born at Richmond, and spent the greater part of his life at Running Stream. He was a resident of Portland for a couple of years, and had lived in Lithgow for the past 14 years. The late Mr. Tindall was remarkably healthy and active for one of his years, and it was his quiet boast that he had never been in bed a day through illness. He often recalled early memories, and related that when he travelled, by road from Mudgee to Sydney the Lithgow of that time was a tiny hamlet, and 'Kelly's" cottage on the corner of Hassan's ,Walls-road was the only habitation on the now populous Extension Estate. To the widow, Mrs. Tindall, of Lithgow-street, and the family the deepest sympathy of a wide circle is extended. Members of the family are: Mrs. Low (Capertee), Mrs. R. Batcheldor and Mrs. George Evans (Lithgow), and Messrs. Alfred, Sam, Don, Alan, Oswald and Reg. Tindall (Lithgow) and Alex. (Hampton). Among the large cortege on Sunday were residents of the Hampton, Rydal and other districts. Interment was made in the Church of England cemetery, the Rev. R. A. Pollard officiating (Lithgow Mercury, Wednesday 5 November 1930, page 2). |
