Note: DEATH

DEATH Mrs E. Halpin Mrs. Gertrude Grace Halpin, wife of Mr. E. Halpin, of Mudgee, died in the local hospital this morning aged 53 years. Deceased underwent an operation some three weeks ago, and was making such gratifying progress that her early discharge from the institution was looked forward to by her family. Then came a serious turn this morning, and she passed away suddenly. A member of the old Cox family, of Frome's Creek, she resided in Mudgee for the greater part of her life and was held in the highest regard by a wide circle of friends. Although the care of a devoted family was her first consideration, she was ever ready to extend a helping hand to those in distress, and as a neighbour her worth cannot be too greatly stressed. She will be sadly missed, not only by a deeply stricken family, but by all those who were privileged to be numbered among her friends. She is survived by a husband and the following sons and daughters: Mesdames L. Geerin and J. Webster (Annandale), A. Sumner (Lithgow), L. Paterson (Mudgee), Reginald (Bondi) and Harold (Armidale Teachers' College). Mrs. H. Keech (Campsie) is a sister, while the bers are Jack (Havilah), Dave, Douglas and Albert (Mudgee), Arch (Gulgong) and George (Sydney). To the bereaved ones very sincere sympathy is extended. The funeral will take place to the Methodist portion of the general cemetery to-morrow (Friday) afternoon, Messrs. J. C. Swords and Son being in charge of the arrangements.
