Local Brevities

Mr. Faucett, of Mudgee, is in receipt from the Red Cross Information Bureau, of the following particulars, supplied by Private C. G. Foster, of Wattle Flat, Bathurst, of the late Private O. A. Faucett:- Died of wounds on May 20, 1917. Informant described him as about 5ft. 7in., medium build, medium complexion, aged about 21, and stated that both belonged to C Co. Between May 3 and 6, 1917, the battalion was holding the line at Bullecourt. In the afternoon Faucett was engaged in carrying in a man on a stretcher, when he was shot through the head. About half an hour later informant passed within a yard of Faucet, and saw him where he had fallen. Stretcher bearers were with him at the time, and they told informant that they thought Faucett was pretty well done for. Informant never saw Faucet again, but his mate, Jack Hooker, afterwards told informant that Faucett had died of his wounds. Informant added that Private Faucett was well thought of by his mates.
