JANE LEIGHTON The death has occurred at her daughter's residence in Newcastle of Mrs. Jane Leighton, aged 98 years and 10 months. Born at Pitt Town (Windsor) in 1851, deceased was the widow of the late Robert Leighton, who at one time lived at Mudgee, Running Stream and later at Nyngan and Wellington. The late Mrs. Leighton enjoyed the best of health until she had a fall over 12 months ago at her home. She was the last surviving member of the Pitt family, being a sister of the late Jack and Harry Pitt (Mudgee) and the late Mrs. Jack Upham (Gulgong). A family of 3 daughters, 3 sons, 36 grandchildren and 48 great grand-children survive (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 7 September 1950, page 5). |
