OLDFIELD. - In loving remembrance of our dearly-beloved son, JOHN OLDFIELD, who departed this life on December 12th, 1898, aged 12 years. Angel son thou has left us - Left a world of pain and care, Gone to Heaven to be an angel And a crown of glory wear. Darling, mild and gentle, Pure and lovely as the flowers, Thus from earth has early faded But to bloom in Eden's bowers. The gentle voice now is hushed, Thy warm, true heart now is still, And on thy young and innocent brow Is resting death's cold chill; Thy hands are closed upon thy breast, We kissed thy lovely brow, And in our aching hearts we know We miss our dear one now. [Inserted by his loving parents, ROBERT and AGNES OLDFIELD.] (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Friday 5 January 1900, page 10).
