Death of Henry Dewey, Senior. Another good old man was buried last Friday, in Mr. Henry Dewey, senior, of Growee, Rylstone. He was well known in pastoral circles as a good, honest, earnest man, and he passed away last week at the age of 73, full of years and honors. Slowly but surely our old men, who laid the foundations of our nation, are being gathered to their fathers (Sydney Stock and Station Journal, Tuesday 22 March 1898, page 3).

There passed away at Rylstone on June 15, an old and respected resident of that district in the person of Mrs Caroline Sheridan, wife of the late Michael Sheridan, at the age of 70 years. Messrs. John Sheridan (Drill Creek) and Henry Sheridan (Spicers Creek) are sons of the deceased. The remains were interred in the R.C. portion of the Rylstone General Cemetery on the following day, the Rev. Father Corbett, of Sofala, officiating at the grave side (Wellington Times, Monday 1 July 1918, page 2).

Death of Mrs. M. Sheridan. Death has laid its harrowing hand heavily on the district residents within the last few months, the latest to pass away being Mrs. M. Sheridan, of Glen Lee, Narrango. The deceased lady had been in indifferent health for some time, and about ten days before death a severe form of influenza attacked her, which she was unable to shake off, and being of an advanced age she weakened very quickly. The family were called to the bedside, and despite all that medical care and nursing could do, Mrs. Sheridan succumbed to the attack and passed away at 8 o'clock on Wednesday morning. The deceased outlived her late husband by a number of years. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Dewey, of Growee, and a sister of Messrs. H. and G. Dewey, of that place. She and the late Mr. M. Sheridan settled at Glen Lee about 30 years ago, where they, by frugality and hard work created a comfortable home stead which has enabled them to leave to their children a comfortable competency. The late Mrs. Sheridan is survived by seven children, two daughters and five sons. The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon, the cortege moving from Glen Lee at half-past one. A long procession of relatives and friends followed the remains to their last resting place, the last sad rites being performed by Father Corbett, the parish priest (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 20 June 1918, page 25).

DEATH Ellen Ruth King The death took place on Friday at Sydney, of Ellen Ruth King, at the age of 50 years. The deceased was the wife of the late John King, late of Rosedale, Clandulla. Three sons and a daughter are left to mourn. The funeral, which took place to the Catholic portion of the Rylstone Cemetery on Sunday, was largely attended. Father Ring officiated at the grave. MR. JOHN SHERIDAN. By the death of Mr. John Sheridan, which sad event took place at the Wellington District Hospital on Tuesday morning last, the town land district has lost one of its finest personalities. For the past three or four years the late Mr. Sheridan had been in indifferent health, and for the past four months had been an inmate Wellington District Hospital. On Saturday last he suffered a stroke, and although everything possible was done for him, he passed away on Tuesday morning. The deceased was born at Rylstone 64 years ago. He was a magnificent specimen of Australian manhood, being well over six feet high, and built in proportion, and in his young days was an exceptionally strong man. For the past 38 years he had resided with his wife and family at his property, 'Glenrowan,' Comobella, where he followed farming and grazing pursuits, and made a great success of his occupation. He was a very keen farmer, and his property is one of the best known and well kept in the district. Each year he was a prominent exhibitor in the wheat competition run under the auspices of the Wellington P.A. and H. Society, and was successful on one occasion in winning the competition for this district, as well as being placed, on several occasions. He was also an active worker on behalf of the Wellington P.A. and H. Society, and also took a keen interest in all affairs of the town and district. He was President of the Comobella Cricket Club for many years, and, in addition to this class of sport, he was always ready to assist in any other outdoor sport in the district. He also took a keen interest in all public affairs in the Comobella district, being ever ready to give his practical support to anything that had for its objective the advancement of that district. He was a man of fine personality, and his kindly disposition endeared him to all with whom he came in contact. During his lifetime in the Wellington district he had seen many changes take place, and he was the class of citizen that we can ill afford to lose, and his passing will be grieved by a large circle of friends in this town and district. He is survived by his wife and family of three sons and three daughters. The latter are May (Mrs. Stan Giddings, of Suntop), and Misses Lila and Iris Sheridan, of Comobella. The sons are Messrs. Leonard, William and Andrew, all of Comobella. The remains were encased in a polished maple casket, heavily silver mounted, and after a service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church yesterday afternoon were laid to rest in the Catholic portion of the Wellington cemetery, the services at both the Church and graveside being read by Rev. Father Hennessy, of Narromine. The funeral, which was a very large and representative one, was a fine tribute to the esteem in which the deceased was held by all classes. Michael Wm. Sheridan The death occurred at 'Glen-lee,' Rylstone (the residence of his ber), of Michael William Sheridan on Sunday night last. The deceased, who was an old and respected resident of this district, was aged 63 years. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) to the Catholic portion of the Rylstone General Cemetery. The last sad rites were performed by Father O'Dea. To the bereaved we extend our deepest sympathy (Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative, Thursday 6 June 1946, page 14).
