Death of a father | Herbert Frank Cooper 30 November 1940 (aged 28 years) DEATH Herbert Frank Cooper THE death took place at the District Hospital on Saturday evening after a painful illness of Herbert Frank Cooper. The deceased was born at Rylstone 68 years ago, and had followed grazing pursuits in this district. He was held in high esteem by all. The deceased is survived by a widow and eight children, viz., Mrs. Vic. Selig (Kandos), Mrs. Thomas Butter (St. Leonards), Mrs. L. Houghton (Bridgewater, Victoria), Mrs. C. Fitzgibbons (Goulburn), Mrs. J. Wolfe (Kandos), Clyde (Rylstone), Harold (Rylstone) and Ray (Kandos). One brother, Arthur (Kandos) and four sisters (Mrs. Skinner, Kensington; Mrs. J. Skinner, Stony Pinch; Mrs. G. Skinner, Gilgandra; and Mrs. F. Babazon, Perth) are also left to mourn. After a service, conducted by the Rev. Hyde in the Methodist Church, Rylstone, on Monday, the cortege moved off to the Rylstone Cemetery, where the last sad rites were conducted at the grave by Rev. Hyde. To the sorrowing relatives we extend our deepest sympathy. |
Death of a mother | Charlotte Lucy Cox 5 October 1952 (aged 40 years) DEATH MRS. C. COOPER The death occurred at the residence of her son, Ray, at Merrylands on Sunday night of Mrs. Charlotte Cooper. Deceased, who was aged 75 years, was a well known and Very highly respected former Rylstone resident. Her health had been failing for some time, and the end was not unexpected. The remains were brought by road to Rylstone and after a service in the Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ritchie (Mudgee), the funeral will take place at 1.30 p.m. today (Wednesday) to the Rylstone cemetery. Deceased was pre-deceased by her husband some years ago. She is survived by three sons, Harold and Clyde (Rylstone) and Ray (Merrylands), also five daughters, Mrs. T. Buttler (North Sydney), Mrs. V. Selig (Wentworthville), Mrs. L. Horton (Bendigo, Vic.), Mrs. C. Fitzgibbons (Parramatta) and Mrs. J. Wolfe (Kandos). To the bereaved we extend sincere sympathy. |
Death of a brother | Harold Thomas Cooper 4 August 1964 (aged 52 years) Obituary Mr. H. T. Cooper On August 4, in the General Repatriation Hospital, Concord, another Rylstone Returned Soldier passed away, after about four weeks in hospital. He was Harold Thomas Cooper, of Dawson Street, Rylstone, who was born and lived all his life in the Rylstone district. During the first World War, Harold enlisted and served in the 53rd Battalion. He served in the Army for four years, three years and seventy days overseas. He was gassed and wounded in action, while in France on active service. On returning home he married Miss Ina Hardy, of Glen Alice, and they had been married over 63 years. Harold commenced working for the Rylstone Shire Council from which position he retired at the age of 65, in December 1962. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife, Ina, his two daughters Mrs. Diehm, (Ivy) of Rylstone and Mrs. Bruce (Val) of Crows Nest, and his three sons, Cecil, Neville, and Thomas, all of Rylstone. One daughter Norma, predeceased him. Also left to mourn his passing are his five sisters: Mrs. Butler (Mona), Naremburn, Mrs. Selig (Linda), Marylands, Mrs. Haughton (May), Melbourne, Mrs. Fitzgibbons (Essie), Parramatta, Mrs. Wolff (Iris, Granville, and two brothers, Clyde, of Rylstone and Ray, Newcastle. They are also 11 grandchildren. The funeral was on Thursday afternoon from the Methodist Church, Rylstone. Rev. Armstrong took the service at the Church, and at the Cemetery. The military portion of the funeral service was conducted by Mr. Marsh, of the R.S.S. and A.I.L.A Sub-branch at Mudgee. As the cortege left the church the Returned Soldiers and the Rylstone Shire employees formed a guard of honour and marched at the head of the cortege. The pall bearers were employees of the Rylstone Shire Council, Messrs. Mervyn Clarke, Harold McDonald, Stan Hobby, and George Deveigne. Among the very many floral tributes, were wreaths from the R.S.S. and A.I.L. Rylstone Branch; also the Ladies Auxiliary, of the R.S.S. and A.I.L.; from The President, 53rd. Battalion, Mudgee; The President, Rylstone Shire; The Outdoor Staff; Rylstone Shire; The Indoor Staff; Rylstone Shire; The Rylstone Golf Club, and Stores and Office staff of Standard Portland Cement Co., Charbon. So another world war I soldier passes on, at the age of 66 years and a month. R.I.P. The funeral (which was largely attended) was in the hands of Norman Brown, Undertaker, Rylstone. |

Selig The death occurred on May 5 at hospital, and formerly of Railway Terrace, Merrylands, of Linda Madge Selig, at the age of 66 years. Deceased was a former Kandos resident, and was the wife of the late Abraham Victor Selig. Two sons survive her, Victor and Ronald. Following a service in the Central Methodist Church, Concord, the remains were conveyed to the Northern Suburbs Crematorium. Deepest sympathy is extended to all members of the family. |
