Death of a brother | Leonard James Honeysett 22 October 1982 (aged 80 years) Obituary Leonard James Honeysett Leonard James Honeysett (76) died after a long illness at the Rylstone District Hospital on October 22. Mr. Honeysett was late of 53 Ilford Road, Kandos. He was born near Gulgong and was a son of the late William and Dora Honeysett. His early years were spent at Gulgong where he married Gladys Violet Hansell of Tallawang. In 1927 they came to Kandos to live and he started work at Charbon Works. During the War he was transferred to the Kandos Colliery and in later years was the First Aid Attendant until he retired in 1966. In his younger days Mr. Honeysett was a keen sportsman, especially tennis. For many years he looked after and played on “The Park” where six tennis courts existed at one time near the present sports complex. He also was a member of the St. John’s Ambulance First-Aid for 35 years and a lecturer of that Association. He is survived by his wife Gladys, daughters Adele (Mrs. Clive Cafe) and June (Mrs. George Briggs) both of Ilford, and grandchildren, Barry, Peter, Jeff, Greg, Sue, Mark, Denis, Kim, Sanday and Julie-Anne. His funeral took place on October 26 at the Rylstone Cemetery after a Service at St. Laurence’s Anglican Church, Kandos. Mudgee Guardian, Friday 26 November 1982, p. 5.
