Death of an Old Identity. MR. JOHN GAWTHORNE. The death took place, at the Mudgee District Hospital, on Friday, of one of the oldest identities of Mudgee district, in the person of Mr. John Gawthorne, aged 71. The deceased was born at Mudgee, and lived in this district all his life, where he was engaged in farming. For many years he managed farms at Tallewang, and other places. He was a fine, steady, straightforward man, and was held in the highest respect and esteem by all who knew him. He was a very well known figure, and had aquaintances from far and wide. His wife predeceased him by many years. Some few years ago Mr. Gawthorne retired from farming, and up till quite recently lived with his daughter, Mrs. R. Graham, of Mortimer-street, Mudgee. About a month ago he was admitted to hospital, where he remained until the time of his death. The following children are left: - James Gawthorne, Mrs. Walter Hough (Sydney), Mrs. John Smith (Mudgee), Mrs. R.
