Death of a sister | Lavina Matilda Gardoll 22 July 1946 (aged 58 years) DEATHS Mrs. Green Mrs. Lavina Matilda Green, an old identity of Leaning Oak, died at her home in Denison Street on Monday night last, aged 66 years. Her husband predeceased her by 11 years. A kind-hearted, gracious lady, she was held in high regard by a wide circle of devoted friends, who will deeply regret her passing. A family of two sons and one daughter are left to mourn, and they will have the sincere sympathy of the whole countryside. After an impressive service in St. John's Church of England, the funeral took place to the Leaning Oak cemetery on Wednesday, the Rev. Canon Powell officiating on both occasions. Mr. H. She was a native of Victoria, but had spent the greater part of her life in the Wellington and Orange districts, where, she was loved by all who knew her and admired for her many sterling qualities.
