Birthday Party at Riversdale. (From a Correspondent). The married members of the Hextell family entertained about 150 friends and relatives at the home of their parents, Riversdale, on the 29th. ultimo, to commemorate the 60th birthday of their father, Mr. Joe Hextell. The guests came from far and near - Rylstone, Tabrabucca, Carwell, Cudgegong, Stoney Pinch, Limestone, Triangle and Mullamuddy. A large marquee was erected in which the supper was held. Riversdale folk never do things by halves, therefore, everything connected with the function was all that could be desired. One large loom was reserved for dancing. Mr. Arch Sheppard was M.C., and Messrs. Pike Bros., W. Wood and G. Hextell. and Misses Oldfield, Hextell and Rayner provided excellent music. At times, the whole of the musicians were playing at the same time, and one could almost imagine you were in Sydney listening to the German band, which same combination ought to feel proud if this meets its eye. The large dining room was used for card-playing and so on. A number of the elderly guests tried conclusions at cards, and that veteran sport. Mr. George Rayner, of Mullamuddy. kept the ball rolling with his usual banter and humor. During the progress of the supper a number of toasts was given and responded to Mr G. Harris, in a neat and humorous speech proposed the health of the guest. Mr. Joe Hextell. Messrs. H. Sheppard and A. Jennings supported the same. Mr. Joe Hextell proposed the toast of the King. Both toasts were given with musical honors. Other toasts were - The married members of the family, Mrs. Hextell and the single, members, 'The ladies,' 'The bachelors,' and 'The benedicts.' Mr. G. Harris, on behalf of the company, presented Mr. Hextell with a case of L. and Co. pipes, and a silver-mounted rollup razor strop.
