The death took place at a private hospital in Wentworth Falls, yesterday, of Mr. William Leighton, member of a well-known and highly respected Lithgow family from miners' phthisis. He is the third brother to die under similar circumstances within 12 months. Some years ago the three brothers Colin, John, and William Leighton were working, a quartz gold claim in the western district, when the seeds of the disease were sown, though it was not until a considerable time later that it made any headway. Sincere sympathy will be extended to the relatives. The late Mr. Leighton was 59 years of age, single, and was an enthusiastic member of the Lithgow Rifle Club. Death | 5 February 1942 (aged 76 years) DEATH Old Resident Passes On BY the passing of Mrs. Emily Lloyd at the District Hospital on Thursday morning the district lost a loved and esteemed resident. The late Mrs. Lloyd had been ailing for a fair while and the end came peacefully - a fitting climax to a life which was lived trying to help others. The deceased was aged 76 years, and was the beloved wife of Mr. John Lloyd, of Westview, Kandos and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Leighton, of Running Stream.
