WEDDING BELLS. HOGARTH - SKINNER. A very pretty wedding was celebrated in St. Mark's Church of England, Goolma, by the Rev. L. V. Caldwell (Gulgong) on Saturday last, the contracting parties being Mr. Chris. Hogarth, of Rockdale, Sydney, and Miss DoRothy Skinner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Skinner, of Goolma. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming in a white crepe de chene frock, with wreath and veil. She also carried a bouquet of white dahlias and ferns. She was attended by her sister, Miss Mary Skinner, who was attired in a pink crepe de chene dress with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of pink dahlias and roses. Mr. George Skinner carried out the duties of best man. The reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents, where the usual toasts were honored. After the reception the happy couple left for the Mountains, where the honeymoon is to be spent. The bride travelled in a saxe blue repp dress and hat to tone. DEATH OF MRS. DOHERTY Mrs. Hannah Doherty, relict of the late Daniel Doherty, died at Goolma on Thursday evening last, at the advanced age of 81 years. Deceased, with her husband, settled in the district a great many years ago, and enjoyed the highest esteem of all classes of the community. She was a fine old character, and her memory will be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to be numbered among her friends. She is survived by the following: sons and daughters: - Hubert and Hugh Goolma, Mesdames T. Whale Goolma, J. Smith Dubbo, A. Britten Bankstown, Misses Kitty and Susie Sydney and Grace Goolma. To the bereaved ones universal sympathy is extended. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place to the R.C. portion, of the Gulgong cemetery on Friday afternoon. SKINNER - YEO. A quiet, but pretty wedding was celebrated in St. Luke's Church of England, Gulgong, on Tuesday, 7th February, the contracting parties being George, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Skinner, "Hillside," Goolma, and Daisy, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Yeo, "The Wallaroos," Merrygoen. The bride who entered the church on the arm of her bRother (Mr. J. Yeo), was attired in a beautiful frock of beige georgette and lace, with hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of roses and fern. Miss I. Richardson, of Baradine, made a charming bridesmaid. She wore a frock of blue georgette, with hat to match, and carried the usual bouquet. Mr. W. R. Skinner, bRother of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man. After the ceremony the breakfast was held at Egan's Hotel, where the usual toasts were honored. The presents were numerous and costly. The happy couple left by train to spend the honeymoon. Mr. Christopher Shearman BY the death of Mr. Christopher Shearman in Mudgee this morning, the Goolma district has lost one of its most well known and highly respected men on the land. The late Mr. Shearman, who had reached the age of 82, passed away in a private hospital, of which he had been an inmate for about six weeks. Born in Ely (England), he had arrived in Australia with his parents at the age of two, and had lived in the Goolma district practically all his life. He was a most able and successful grazier and sheep-breeder and was noted as a lover of horses and as a rider. He had, in fact, been able to break-in horses up till a few years ago. Mr. Shearman was also noted as an ardent worker for charitable causes, and was a staunch supporter of the Church of England. Ten children survive Mr. Shearman, his wife having predeceased him by six years. She was a member of the well known Hughes family, which was among the pioneers of the Spicer's Creek district. The sons are Ernest (Coolah), Walter (Goolma), Roland (Bourke), Arthur (Queensland), and Stanley (Coonabarabran). Mr. Reg. Hughes (Goolma) is an adopted son. The daughters are Mesdames J. Higgins (Newtown), W. Rush (Two Mile Flat), F. Brophy (Narrandera), and Misses Elsie and Aileen (Goolma). Mrs. W. Skinner (Goolma) is a sister, and Mr. R. Shearman (Goolma) a ber. The funeral will take place tomorrow (Tuesday), and the cortege will leave the Goolma Church of England at 2.30 p.m. for the Spicer's Creek Cemetery, where the interment will be carried out. OBITUARY CHRISTOPHER SHEARMAN. The death took place in a private hospital in Mudgee early this morning of Christopher Shearman, at the advanced age of 82 years. Deceased, who leaves a grown up family, has been a resident of the Goolma district for a great many years, where the family name is well and favourably known. His wife predeceased him about 6 years ago. The remains have been brought to Mudgee and are resting in the Goolma Church of England, from where the funeral cortege will leave at 2.30 tomorrow afternoon for the Spicer's Creek cemetery. SPICER'S CREEK Death of Christopher Shearman Christopher Shearman, one of Mudgee district's oldest and most respected residents, passed peacefully away on Monday, 10th inst., at the age of 83 years. He had been an inmate of Broughton Hospital, Mudgee, for some time. He went to Mudgee at an early age with his English parents. Later in life he owned properties at Lambing Hill and Uamby. For over 40 years he successfully carried on grazing on his property, 'Pine Lea,' at Goolma. He was a skilled horseman, a good judge of stock and a man who was ever honest in his dealing with his fellowmen. His word was his bond, and he bore his last painful illness with brave, cheerful fortitude. Christopher Shearman leaves behind him a record of integrity and uprightness of character He is survived by five daughters: Mrs. J. Higgins (Sydney), Mrs. W. Rush (Two Mile Flat) , Mrs. F. Brophy (Grong Grong) and the Misses Elsie and Aileen Shearman (Goolma). The sons are: Walter (Goolma), Ernest (Coolah), Roland (Bourke), Arthur (Rockhampton) and Stanley. The funeral cortege, which was a large and representative one, passed from the Goolma Church of England to the Spicer's Creek cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest beside those of his wife, who predeceased him by six years. Shearman, of Goolma, and grandson Walter McCall, also attended. The relatives and a number of friends sat down to a delicious repast, a beautifully decorated cake adorning the table. A double funeral took place in Gulgong on Sunday, July 27, when the remains of the late Mr. William Skinner (aged 87 years) and of his wife, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Skinner (aged 85 years), of Belmore Street, were laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the Gulgong cemetery. Mr. Skinner died at 10.15 p.m. on the previous Friday night in the District Hospital, Mrs. Skinner's death occurring at their residence at 9.30 a.m. the following day. They were married 62 years ago and had resided in Belmore Street for the past six years, having previously lived the greater part of their life at Goolma, where they were both held in the highest regard. Each had a kindly personality and a lovable character. Mrs. Skinner, who was born at Goolma, was the former Miss Shearman, and had quite a number of relatives in this district. The late Mr. Skinner was a native of Cassilis and going to Goolma as a boy, later acquired a farming and grazing property known as 'Hillside' (now owned by Mr. E. Bird). In his early days, the late Mr. Skinner was a gun blade shearer. He was widely known and universally respected. His life was a model of integrity. The late Mr. and Mrs. Skinner are survived by the following grown up family: - Messrs. Ernest Skinner (Chatswood), Archie Skinner (Goolma), Lewis Skinner (Earlwood), John Skinner (Cronulla), Walter Skinner (Mary Vale), George Skinner (Neilrex), Mesdames Gertrude McCaw (Newtown), Doy Hogarth (Oatley), and Mary Harmer (Trundle).
